Located on the southwest shore of Koh Phangan, Wok Tum Bay is a shining example of pristine natural wonder. Wok Tum Bay lies on the southern side of the bay and with its stretching white sands, provides a perfect contrast to the azure waves that lap upon the shore.
Wok Tum Bay is one of the quieter and least-developed areas of Koh Phangan feeling largely untouched by tourism compared to most of the island. The coral reef 300 metres offshore is really too far out to make it a popular snorkelling destination, and the beach, though long and sandy is good for little more than sunbathing and long, secluded strolls. Not a bad choice for these activities, but swimming in this shallow bay is mediocre at best.
Although Wok Tum bay is a wide sweeping bay, most of the budget accommodations are clustered behind a breakwater at the southern end of the bay - a positioning choice which may do wonders for keeping the water calm, but isn't overly scenic.
Wok Tum Bay can be reached by road and then trail from Thong Sala, Koh Phangan's largest town. If you desire to arrive by sea, check in Thong Sala to see if you can hire a water taxi.
If you want to take a plunge in the waves, the best times for swimming are between the months of November and April. Wok Tum Bay is untouched because of its makeup and therefore provides both seclusion and privacy to those that visit.
Whether you wish to laze upon the sand at Wok Tum Bay soaking up the tropical sun, or you want to thrash about in the bottle blue waters, Wok Tum Bay will fulfill your vacation desires. If you are the active type but do not wish to get wet, you can wander inland, explore the trails and visit the amazing Ao Wok Tum Temple. Be sure to bring your camera so you can capture the natural beauty that lines the paths leading away from Wok Tum Bay. So make sure you visit Wok Tum Bay while vacationing in Koh Phangan.
